Sending the article to Jimny. Pesky thing is 32mb, so I gotta send it in 10 sections. May take a bit to get it up.
Patience, grasshopper.

The above is my opinion. It is subject (like all my opinions) to debate, disagreement, rude gestures, and loud raspberries.

Because this goes on the main site. I'm a forum admin, not a site admin. I don't have FTP access to the main site. Jimny and Steve do that stuff. They don't let me mess around with the main site.......they're either chickens or very smart, depending on your point of view.Eddy wrote: ... so ... how come it be that you caint post it yourself?

That's a great write up Smuz! I've seen similar type writeups in magazines, etc., and yours is definitely the best! Don't you go gettin' a job writing now though, you'd have less time to work on LJ's!
I have one comment and one question: First, you are correct: the shims are available new still, in two thicknesses: .5mm and .1mm. Second, you quoted the wheel bearing number as 6202RS; my notes say it's 6206RS. I doubt that these are the same, so I think one of us has a typo. I'll check my numbers; would you kindly do the same please? I'm pretty sure my number is correct, as I have some NOS on the shelf, with both the OEM part number and the Koyo number, but maybe I copied it wrong.

The only difference between an ordeal and an adventure is your attitude

Hmmmmm. Right here in my notes it says 6202RS. I gotta couple laying out in the shop, I'll go get one in a bit and double check. You may be right, I got a diff carrier bearing laying here that's about the same size as the wheel bearings and it's a 6207.Second, you quoted the wheel bearing number as 6202RS; my notes say it's 6206RS.
BTW: I think the "RS" suffix stands for "Rubber Shielded".

Them other writers are getting paid too much then. This thing took slightly less than two hours to write up and insert pics, including typos (I gotta proofread a little better). That's a great write up Smuz! I've seen similar type writeups in magazines, etc., and yours is definitely the best!
One thing I didn't stress and should have is to have a copy of the service manual handy and referr to it often. My write up was intended to illustrate and supplement the service manual, not to replace it. All torque and other values should come from the manual.
As a matter of fact, I'm gonna put that in a sticky announcement rat now!
