2012 Zuks of KC Labor Day Meet
Once again, Zuks of KC is having a meet at Disney, Ok. over Labor Day weekend.
And once again, we are inviting any LJ10.com folks to join us.
As in the past, we will do wooded trails, climbs, and ravines suitable for LJ's in the am. After lunch the ZOK bunch will tackle the harder rocks and climbs. The LJ folks are invited to watch. If (heaven forfend) no LJ's show up, ZOK will just go for the big stuff from the git-go.
The LJ folks that have been there before will tell you that it's a good time. And yes, we will try to get Kevin to drive off the edge of the world again.
More details as we get closer.

The above is my opinion. It is subject (like all my opinions) to debate, disagreement, rude gestures, and loud raspberries.

Re: 2012 Zuks of KC Labor Day Meet
Ok, the plan, as of now, is to all meet up in the parking area below the dam at 9 am and take off to wheel when it looks like everybody is there.
We'll mebbe hit the Grand Staircase and rock garden for a short time and then head off to the wooded trails to have fun with the LJ's until lunch. I think we'll prolly gather in the parking area for lunch and people that wanna can hit a close-by resturaunt.
After lunch the Sammis will head for the harder rocks, ie: waterfall, little blue, etc. The LJ's and anyone else can bail or come watch us idiots try to break our junk and/or commit suicide. We can guide the LJ's and other light weights to good vantage points to watch the ensuing stupidity. We'll wheel prolly as long as anybody wants to stay or until we crash and die.
I plan to be at the state campground across the highway from the parking area Fri about noonish. I'll stay thru Mon, or as much longer as anyone else will stay.
Gonna be a great time, people.

I suppose, considering past history, borrowing one of your dad's LJ's is prolly not an option?

That would be correct. For a multitude of reasons.Smuz wrote:I suppose, considering past history, borrowing one of your dad's LJ's is prolly not an option?
Being a holiday weekend, I'll probably hafta work, anyway.

We will be traveling about 80 miles west of here Friday afternoon for a 2 p.m. funeral and Church dinner afterward. This will make us a little later getting headed back the other direction toward Disney. Plan is to save some time by leaving trailer/Miss Alice somewhere on Highway 60 and pick them up on way to cabin in Ketchum. Still plan to see you early Sat. morn.

I'm home and the meet is history. Not well attended this year. We had 6 Samarais and 1 LJ. Meyers was the only LJ that made it.
Had a really good time. I'll post more later, right mow I'm tired.

Takes me some time to get them reformatted to fit the 220kb allowed.Smuz wrote:Now I know Meyers took some pics.

Re: 2012 Zuks of KC Labor Day Meet
We had a great time, thanks to the Sami folks. Miss Alice and I both are much older than we were two years ago but the Bride is about the same. By noon Sat. I was begining to hurt all over and by evening the neck and upper back were giving me hell plus the group already had had to join all their tow straps to make one long enough so Mel could pull on us as we were trying to climb a steep incline of loose rock. So come Sun. morning we ate breakfast with Mel and SMUZ and then did a slow pace in Miss Alice discovering the back roads that were paved. This was fun even though we got lost.
It seems the few other lost visititors to the area assumed that a big bellied old man in bib overhauls with both he and his wife wearing straw hats while driving a very small, slow, open top vehicle, would just have to be locals. So they would flag us down asking for directions. Not one mentioned the word "correct" so I obliged them just as if I knew where I was at.
Any fun is fun when you are old .....
Here are some pics of Mel (standing) directing Smuz across part of the rock garden

Well, that didn't work out as I'd hoped. I finished second to last. Got hung up on a bonus gate on the first course and DNF'd. That put me in a 40 point hole that I just couldn't recover from. Then I hit a gate on each of the next two courses. Pretty miserable showing. There's always next year, I guess.frankenstein wrote:Good luck!Smuz wrote: And I'm taking off for the Crawl Comp tomorrow, wish me luck.
Thanks for the pics, Meyers. They show the waterfall pretty well, it's a fun climb.

Well, for those that are interested, here's the vids of me in the comp. They're pretty painful to watch, esp. course 1. I really screwed the pooch in this comp. And my spotter (Mel) REALLY needs to let me start turning sooner to save on 1 point reverses. And I actually finished 3rd from last in 7th place. Crap!
