Re: Axle Bearing / Oil filter numbers

Oil filter is the same as the SJ410 and Samurai/SJ413.

CITROA Body Panels for LJ80/81

Well, it's been a couple of months and I haven't done much with this yet, mostly because the LWB took up most of my time over the summer. I did paint the fender to match the rest of the truck as best I could, pulled the old fender out, and did a test fit. The fit is very close, but it will need to b...

LJ10, LJ80 U-joints

LJ10's and LJ80's use the same u-joints; LJ20's do not have serviceable u-joints. The LJ10/LJ80 u-joint is same dimensions as a Samurai/SJ413 u-joint, but the LJ's have inner snap rings whereas the Samurai/SJ413 has external rings. I was able to get a new j-joint off the shelf at O-Reilly's. The par...

CITROA Body Panels for LJ80/81

As some of you know, I laid the LJ81 on its side this spring. The only damage was to the drivers side fender and the hood, and I was able to straighten out the hood pretty easily, but the fender was pretty bad. It also uncovered some previously unknown rust in that fender, so I decided that replacin...

Yeah, I guess it is technically the inner race for those ball bearings, but it doesn't look like what you expect an inner race to look like, so I call it the "star". :D

Re: Replace Lj10/20 drum brakes with disc brakes – a summary

The "star" is actually part of the birfield, not the main (inner) axle shaft. There is a circlip that holds this star in place on the shaft, and the ball bearings fit between the points of the star. Thus, once the star is removed, you can just pull the circlip off, put a new one on, and po...

Re: Replace Lj10/20 drum brakes with disc brakes – a summary

One of my winter projects was to do this swap on my LJ81. The stock brakes are adequate, but were designed for the 1300# LJ10 and LJ20, not the 1700# LJ80/81. Add another 500# of trailer, a couple of people, and camping gear, and my stopping distance got a lot longer. I had a spare LJ80 axle, as wel...

Have seen Smuz look like this :D after a few beers and like this :pissed: after a few too many. Saw Alice look like this  one time. It was at the Waipaous Alberta meet after Wilson topped a very steep climb. The  came when Wilson flattened out for about 3 feet and then did an even ste...

Re: Somebody say something !

In Washington, all hard alcohol was sold through state-owned liquor stores until a ballot measure was passed a couple of years ago (I-1183), allowing other retail stores to sell it. The primary sponsor and contributor to the campaign was... you guessed it... Costco. They contributed nearly $21 milli...

...we paid our very first visit to a COSCO store. Ha! Count yourself lucky Larry; we go there at least every month, and are happy if we get out of there spending less than $200. Of course, having two growing teenagers in the house, being able to buy in bulk does come in handy! The Costco we go to i...

Nice pics Larry! It was much cooler around here, mid 60's Sunday and 70's Monday.

I suggest the people in the white camo Samurai put in a rollcage before putting their kids in the backseat; hopefully they were really careful climbing those rocks!

Re: Zuks of KC Disney, Ok. Labor day

After being in the 80's and 90's the last month and a half, we're finally getting some more seasonal weather here - mid 70's to low 80's, and cooling off nicely at night. When I got up this morning it was 48* outside (9*C).
