And remember smuz, no brew on the trail!
Of course if you're bringing that big ol' 5th wheel, you could probably store a small brewery in there for back at camp!

Sure, make me do it all! Actually, I did this for my local Suzuki club, Wazuks. We require a rollbar or hardtop, seatbelts for each passenger, tow hooks or an adequate pulling device on each end of the vehicle (i.e. winch), a fire extinguisher, and a spare tire, along with all equipment neces...

I will be sleeping in a tent. Don't mind the sleeping on the ground. The is one thing that I ask from all of you though. Rather than me buy cooking gear etc would I be able to share yours? Will have my own cooler, tent sleeping bag, etc but I don't want to have to buy a stove, pots pans etc. I am s...

I think Engineer Pass is part of the Alpine Loop. There's also a trail that goes from Ouray over the mountains the other way to Telluride. And yes, we do want to reserve a space as soon as we can, especially given the holiday weekend. We should have a rough idea of how many rigs/people are going to ...

Man, that sucks! Around here, most wheelers are responsible, but there are a few who try and ruin it for the rest of us. Through my club, we've built up a very good relationship with the FS and DNR, and work with them. If we see people drinking out on the trail, the first thing we do is assess the s...

With the wife and kids, I like the idea of being back at the camper at night, as opposed to camping out on the trail. On a side note, I like to think I'm a responsible 'wheeler, meaning I don't drink on the trail, or even bring it with me on the trail. That said, I've gotten pretty good at homebrewi...

ifxatvs, I see you've done that Alpine Loop, from your post under ebay auctions. Looking at the descriptions, maps, and pictures, it sounds perfect to me! Do you know of a good camping area around there that could accomodate our group? Do they still run that steam train from Durango to Silverton? I ...

Yeah, the exhaust is basically in two sections: The expansion chamber section and the muffler section. The power is generated from the front section; the muffler and tailpipe can be replaced with just about anything that'll fit. I'd keep everything the same diameter as stock, though if you find a bi...

That looks nice. :D It looks like there's a lot of moderate 4WD trails around Leadville also. One concern I've come up with is snow - some of these trails traverse passes that are over 12,000', and may still be closed due to snow even in July. We also want trails that we can do in a day, and be back...

That doesn't surprise me. A simple (one-stage) expansion chamber can help a two-stroke engine generate a lot of power, but makes for a narrow power band. With a two-stage chamber, you can tune it to make power through a much longer band. I would guess that your's allowed for power at higher rpms, wh...

Jimny, didn't you use a Polaris x-chamber once? I'm sure if you look hard enough, you can find one off an ATV or snowmobile that will work ok. I tried locally, but didn't see anything that would match up well, so I decided to look into making them. Plus, I'm not looking to just slap something on tha...

I can do some research via Colorado 4x4 clubs, magazine articles, etc., but I do not have any direct experience, so if anyone out there does, please chime in! My feeling is that we should find a place that will be challenging for a stock LJ, but with a low risk of body damage for those of us trying ...

I'm sure the original ones used asbestos, or some other cancer-causing agent that is illegal now. The first step is to build one that will optimize the LJ engine's power (or at least so better than the stock exhaust!). Once that is done, then an outer covering can be made that will act both to quiet...

Oh yeah! Of course, since it holds two LJ's, I've got pick up another good one...wonder if an LJ81 will fit in the wheelwells? I think we're going to plan our vacation around this event, and hit Yellowstone for a few days. You can 't drive above 40 mph in the park anyway, so it'd be perfect for an L...
