Re: Wiring the Samurai distributor in LJ80
BlueSilver - I'm in the middle of this swap right now, with a new distributor I bought off eBay. It has the same brown wire with 2 plugs, and a blue wire with forked terminal. The only way I can get it to fire is to attach it to the "-" of the primary windings on the coil, instead of the e...

I'm not very smart, but I am improving
My daily driver is a 2012 Toyota Tacoma. It's a great truck. Had it for 6 years, with absolutely no issues whatsoever. Recently, the TPMS light came on, so I decided to check my tire pressures. The fronts were a bit low, but I couldn't get the metal caps off of the valve stems to check the two rear ...

Re: LJ 80 Samurai distributor swap
Same coil, but without the ballast resistor? I assume the ballast resistor is no longer required, once there's no points involved.stevec wrote:No, you do not need to swap the coil. In fact, I expect the coils are the same part number for both models.

Re: LJ 80 Samurai distributor swap

I'd like to do this swap eventually, when I can find a distributor, but don't want to buy two coils.

Looks like you folks had a great time. It would be great to be able to join in some day, and meet some of you.
For now, though, I must keep plugging away at my little buggy.

Molasses rust removal actually works!
I put some parts in a tote a few weeks ago (ok, so probably 2 months ago), and tonight, when I was fishing around for the spring/shock plates, they actually looked pretty good! I tried to take pictures, but sometime my phone takes "orange coloured" pictures, and tonight was one of those ti...
