Engine Rebuilding
We have been rebuilding LJ engines for over 13 years now, mostly been word of mouth but now we decided to post on the web site. When we rebuild an engine, due to lack of some parts not available anymore, we replace what is needed, as in if the bearings on the crank are in good shape (still in tolerance) then we will not replace them, but the bearings on the piston pins will be replaced every time, as will the pistons, rings, gaskets etc.
These items are replaced with new parts for each "Basic" rebuild: Pistons (2) Piston Rings (2 sets) Piston Pin Bearings (2) Piston Pins (if they show ANY wear) (2) All Engine Gaskets (Head, Jug to Case, Water Pump (2), Reeds/intake (2)) Outer Crank Seals (2) Points, Condenser, Distributor Cap Exhaust Manifold Gasket
The price for the parts on the above Basic rebuild is around (prices may change/vary) $260.00 US The labor cost for the Basic rebuild is: $300.00 US The labor consists of disassembly, cleaning the engine and all parts, bead blasting parts, painting the jug, bore the jug, checking all tolerances, re-assembly and crate building/material. We have found the best way to ship the engines. We use DHL, they have yet to damage any packages we have sent through them, unlike UPS. We are located in the middle of the USA and on a engine we just shipped to California the cost was $57.00! We crate the engine when shipping back to you. You will pay actual shipping cost. We can also ship an empty crate to you, so you can ship your engine to us in it. Since there are no carburetor rebuild kits anymore, we can't rebuild carb's, BUT we can take them apart and soak them in carb cleaner and clean them thoroughly then put a new bowl gasket in it. However we can re-jet them in case you live in a high altitude. For a carburetor cleaning we charge $25.00 US
