Uhhh, after cussing the heat, I found THIS on the Moab thread from last year:
ON SEPT 9th!
Holy crap! Trying to get ready for the trip and it's HOT!
Was 105 yesterday and supposed to be 101 today.
I'm too old for this.
Should be better the rest of the week,
Mebbe I'll quit bitching about how hot it is now.
The above is my opinion. It is subject (like all my opinions) to debate, disagreement, rude gestures, and loud raspberries.

"How sharper than a serpent's tooth than to have an inconsiderate child" That's Shakespeare, for you illiterates.
And pretty damned to the point, too.

You WILL help him or you will regret every minute of not helping him when he is gone.
Trust me on this one, I got a heaping pile of regrets that I wish hadn't happened and that I could do over.
Treasure every minute w/ your dad, there won't be any more.

Ever. EVER!

EDIIT** Sorry Tweeder, you just kinda struck a nerve.

And ya wanna know sumpin funny? That was the last time I used it.
Every since that trip, we've either went north in the summer or south in the winter. So, never needed it again. Mebbe this trip, tho.
Wow, that trip was like eight years ago!

That's why we didn't get A/C on our camper. We've had it 12 seasons now, slept over 200 nights in it, and there have been only two times when we wished we had A/C. One of those times we were dry camping, so didn't have a 30A hookup anyway, and the other was the Moab trip.

Oh good grief, Smuz... Ya ever heard of a smartass comment? Of course I'd probably be helping him, assuming I'm not at school or (hopefully) work.

Still, he ought to know better than to drive off into that mess.

You're correct. I was outa line and I apologize.

And I share your feelings about that stupid mud and avoiding it.

I just said it smelled "like a goat's ass" and everybody acted like they'd never heard anything like that before. :ohno:

Nice pics Larry! It was much cooler around here, mid 60's Sunday and 70's Monday.

I suggest the people in the white camo Samurai put in a rollcage before putting their kids in the backseat; hopefully they were really careful climbing those rocks!

Frank: Oh, fer Pete's sake. I've owned goats, my sister has a herd of goats, I've smelled gpats and cleaned up goat crap. It don't take much extrapolation to figger out how bad the origin of that odor has gotta smell w/o sticking your nose in there personally. Which I never have.

Steve: We're careful about the kids. They walk when things are sketchy. A full cage is in the works.

There is one burning question in my mind from this weekend:
Every morning I met Larry and Wendy and Tom and Nancy at a little restaurant at 7am for breakfast. We had agreed on this. Nancy even asked Sunday to make sure I'd be there Monday.
Monday morning it started pouring down rain at 4:30am. I got up early so I could put the doors on my soaking wet Samurai, lower and secure the back panel, and cover the soaking wet seats w/ cut up plastic trash bags so I could drive through the rain while I wiped the fog off the windshield w/ a rag and tried to get the wore out wipers to work. But I made it on time.

WHY was I the only one there? Huh? Just what kinda excuse do you 4 derelicts have to try to redeem your useless selves?

I'm waiting...

Well, when the storm hit our cabin I first thought we had a rat making noise. Then, after I realized it was a storm I asked the Bride if we were supposed to meet you and Nancy and Tom for breakfast. She replied "Yes, kind of. We are supposed to meet Smuz at Braum's in Vinita" and then before she dropped back off to sleep she said something about Nancy and Tom planning to eat breakfast at the Osage Casino east of Tulsa".

Anyway, breakfast was great and being as I am the forethoughtful kind of guy I am I had trailered Miss Alice the evening before so just had to get in and drive the 20 miles to Vinita and then let the hash browns, biscuits w/sausage gravy, and orange juice slide down and settle into the hungry tummy which had not been stressed by first doing a lot of work out in the rain. Plus you had bought our breakfast Sunday so this allowed us to release ourselves from the reciprocal hook of take and give.

Our redemption is now complete with this restoratively redeeming tale if I have ever made one up.

I'm really sorry, I didn't know that we had alluded to meeting you for breakfast Monday morning. I knew that Nancy had planned on leaving early to go waste our money at the casino. Unfortunately, just asking her if she had said we'd see you Monday morning has made me wrong yet again and landed me in the doghouse :-(

My apologies,

Tom

Part time RHD eh? Looking at those pictures, the better question is why he moved the CB antenna from one side to the other, and how the heck he was able get the EXACT same dent on both sides of the hood!
