And Kevin, Alice, and I are in a hotel at Aurora, Co. watching it rain. Gee-whiz, there,s a lot of water here.
We hit one bad 100 mile stretch between Colby, Ks. and Limon, Co., where we had a 30+ quartering headwind. I got 3.5 mpg. Ouch!
Tomorrow should be un eventful, once we get thru Eisenhower tunnel and we should be in Slickrock late afternoon.

Hwy 191 is closed due to flooding between Monticello and Moab. Spending the night in Monticello. Got one of the last rooms in town. Hopefully the road will be open in the morning!

Just came off the Fins & Things trail, beautiful weather, low 80s temps. No dust on the trail. A couple of the steep spots scared the heck out of Nancy, but other then that, no problems for anyone.

Sounds great - be sure to post pics!

Well, they wanted hard, so I showed them hard. Did Moab Rim, a nice, short starter trail with a scenic overlook at the top. A 4.5 out of 5 on the old scale. Took less then 2 hours up and back. They were itching for more, so up the road is Pritchett Canyon. A solid 5 out of 5 trail, and that was several years ago. It is harder now. Five times the Samurais had to take the winch cable. Tweety and I had wisely left the Ljs behind, and rode with Smuz and his friend Kevin. It was a long day, but we made it out alive. Some pictures to follow.

Metal Masher today, with the LJs in attendance. No casualties, we all made it out in one piece. We all passed on "Rock Chucker", and the Samurai's climbed "Widowmaker" (with a little help from their friend 'winch').
Still working on those pictures (resizing, cropping). Will post as soon as I can.

It's pouring right now in Monticello (50 miles south of Moab).

Smuz and Kevin are home safe and sound.
Was an awesome trip. I'll start posting a synopsis of it tomorrow, after I decompress.
Wuz a long run home, the GPS said that I towed that freight train 1900 mile there and back.
Kevin got quite a bit of video that I'll post links to when he gets it up.

Oh, I really, really, REALLY wanna put forth my utmost thanks to SuzukiTom for showing us around, running winch cable, fixing my elect. probs, and really making this a great time for us. He was an absolute peach of a guy. And his commentary in my shotgun seat about the geology and the historic aspects of the area really enhanced my experience. It wouldn't have been near the trip it was without him.
My undying thanks, Tom. I love you, man.

I also wanna thank Phil (Tweedy Bird) for the comradeship, running winch cable, helping with fixing mechanical issues, and picture tacking. He was an anchor on this trip.
And he's got one sweet little LJ81 that he beat up a bit on this trip.
Thanks, Phil.

Re: Zuks of KC - Moab, 2013
Made it in about 6:25 pm what a journey home it felt like Smuz was haunting Me on the trip home. Not really just his kind of luck with trailer tires on the way home. Destroyed two about two miles west of San Jon NM and replaced a third before it popped. All this happening at 9:30 on a Saturday night, but the Good LORD was with Edie and Me We pulled over on the shoulder of the road in front of a sign advertising 24 hr. truck and tire service just a mile up the road. He had the tires and rim that I needed at a honest price and we were up and going within 2 hrs. Well now I have 4 high quality tires on the trailer now having replaced one last year returning from Idaho (why didn't I change all of them last year ) o well live and learn. Just need to get a quality spare and I will be in good shape (I hope).
