Naw, he'll be fine.

C'mon people, I can't be the onliest one scrambling to get ready. Let's have some other tribulations.

It's alive! Once I figured out I had the distributor in 180 degrees out, if fired right up! Now, when I get my intermediate driveshaft back from the shop, I'll be able to take if for a test drive. Hopefully, that'll be early this week. Besides that, all I need to finish up is the fabrication of the rollbar, seatbelts, and finally, the title/registration.
Barring any unforseen problems, it looks like I'm good to go :D

I and maybe it was Smuz have done that on the dist. both knowing but forgetting the ND on the rotor has to face the mark. Have not taken the time to figure out why it won't work 180 off with it having a two prong rotor but guessing it has to do with the placement of the lobes on the shaft. Glad you are going to make it to Moab.

Got the tranny on the lawn mower fixed and have been doing wife Winnie the honors for standing me for a half century as of yesterday (Aug. 16) so today we are getting back to getting ready for Moab. She is going to help me change engine oil in tow rig and gear oils on the LJ, then believe we will be ready. Plan to pull out of here next Saturday 22nd and get there in time to look around some prior to the meet.

That's a shame. I was thinking tho, If I had to sell an LJ to be able to afford to go to the meet, I prolly wouldn't go. They'll be other meets, LJ's are hard to come by.

We'll miss ya, buddy.

Sorry to hear you won't be there Paul, it's been awhile since I've seen you out wheeling.

I was happy to have nothing that needed to be done before the meet. Until Saturday. Took the RHD out for a drive and a bit of wheeling and cracked the flex pipe. Not sure if I'll have time to fix it before I leave, so one of my LJ10's may be a bit louder this year...

Yesterday a lady who is a professional photographer showed me some pics she took while on the trails at Moab. Wow!!!!! Unbelievable!!!!! First thought was to take a couple of boat anchors with me but it looked like there was nothing for them to hang on to.

We are leaving out tomorrow (Sat. 21st)to have time to look around some prior to the meet. See you there.

Mostly ready to go. Still have the title/registration and safety inspection to go before it's road legal, but we'll be doing that Monday. Our plans are to leave on Saturday morning and take two days to get to Moab so we can sightsee along the way.

Wow, I didn't think we'd be seeing the Tweedy's this year - How is grandpa doing?

Tom, your LJ turned out great! I can't wait to see it in person!

Smuz, Slickrock CG has WiFi, so we're covered. I'll bringing a laptop too, and I might even be generous enough to post some pictures on the site before I get home! :P

My wife left at 4:30 this morning to Atlanta for work, and will be there all week, so the girls and I will be packing. We're leaving Friday evening, to shorten the drive on Saturday. Wife got a return flight into Salt Lake City Saturday afternoon, so we're picking her up at the airport (that should be fun with the camper and trailer!) and staying somewhere around there. That leaves only about 200 miles to drive on Sunday, which happens to be the girls' birthday (12 and 9), so we should get there around lunchtime Sunday, barring any unforseen issues.

Sounds like I'll have a day to relax before Smuz gets there.

LMAO!!!

oh, i'm sure you already know this, Steve, but be real careful with the WiFi hotspots. a lot of em are just crawling with viruses, spyware, and other malware just waiting for you to link up.

We left Saturday to play in Colorado before going on to Moab. My engine suffered a catastrophic failure in Abilene Kansas. :pissed: I removed the #1 sparkplug, and it spurts water out when it turns over. This after I broke my ass doing a tub-clip swap to get ready.

Smuz drove 300 miles to rescue us and dropped us and our broken little truck off at our door at midnight. He still had at least another hour to drive home, and he had an activity the next morning to prepare for. Nobody could have a better friend than Smuz.

Our plan now is to use my Son's stone stock Samurai for the trip. I'm out to change the fluids, pack 'er up, and get back on the road. I hope that I can keep up with you guys.

Well it sucks that you blew your engine, but I'm glad you have a "spare" to bring!

Yeah, pretty much.

After he told me about the water coming out the spark plug hole and asked what I thought was wrong with the engine, all I would say is: "It's broke, ya need a new one".

I musta repeated that diagnosis 25 times in the course of the evening. I don't think it's what he wanted to hear.

Actually, it's exactly what I wanted to hear. That meant I did not have to waste my time taking off the head to see if the problem was only a gasket. It meant that I could focus on the 16 valve waiting to repaired/rebuilt and installed.

My Son's stocker is scary. There was thick custom carpeting, with a pad no less. The rust underneath many of you can identify with. A hole under the driver's feet that you can put your foot through. The stocker had a hardtop. The support bars that connect the roll-bar with the windshield frame were removed to accommodate the hard top. Screw that. No way I was going to Moab with compromised occupant protection. Off came the hard top, and I swapped over the nice new Bestop I had installed for my new build.

With luck, I'll get out of town by the end of the day.
