Front Brake Drum, Axle Nut
If you've never pulled your front brake drums (or even if you have), be sure to check and make sure the axle nut is tight and the cotter pin is in good condition and holding. I've now talked to three different people in the past year who have had problems with this nut coming loose, or just not being tight enough. The problem all have had is that if the brake drum has any play at all on the shaft, the splines will shear off, and render the drum useless.
BTW, if you've never taken that nut off, it requires a 36mm socket.

Yeah i've had the same problem with my front drums. Nut came loose and the splines followed in it's place. Couldn't find a used drum in good shape either so i bought a new one for $150. Note to self after that: make sure that dang nut is really tight!
LJ80s, I can't collect them all, but I might still try...
I had a couple of rear axles that I had to remove the axle shaft with the drum (taking off the 4 bolts on the backing plate) and then remove the drum. Not only was the drum frozen to the end of the shaft, but the remains of the shoes were rusted to the drum as well. Got one front axle that is being difficult (on the red LJ20 I got from you), but I haven't put all that much effort into it yet.

I had two front drums that took a 20 ton press and heating to cherry red to get 'em off. When they finally came it got kinda exciting for a while, until things stopped riccoett... eer ricocheting... eer bouncing around.
The above is my opinion. It is subject (like all my opinions) to debate, disagreement, rude gestures, and loud raspberries.

I found one that fit my LJ80 on the front end of a subaru
