I think we should have a safety inspection of all rigs that will be going on the trails. One thing all should have is a fire extinguisher!

We will check: Brakes - Fire Extinguishers - Seat Belts - Roll Bars (Open only) - Tires

Sound fair with everyone? :?: :?:

Make that a "Trail Ready" inspection and include recovery gear, first aid kit, gloves, and snake bite medicine.

We need a list.

And a leader and a sweeper and radios and rules and all that stuff.
I saw an AU club site that had a good set of guidelines we could learn from. I'll try and find it again.

Plus I have high powered professional radios that I can hand out to each LJ. They will reach 5 miles.

*I should have enough for each LJ, depends on how many show up*.

Man I wish I could bring my Red Bull X-90. The trunk iz a big cooler, I could fill it fulla beer and make a FORTUNE!

Actually, I did this for my local Suzuki club, Wazuks. We require a rollbar or hardtop, seatbelts for each passenger, tow hooks or an adequate pulling device on each end of the vehicle (i.e. winch), a fire extinguisher, and a spare tire, along with all equipment necessary to change it. We also have a recommended list, which is longer, and I won't go into it too much here since I'll probably have it all with me anyway. My only concern with the rollbar is someone with an open LJ without a rollbar, who wants to keep it stock...

My LJ's have, or will have CB's.

I think we should try to keep this as informal as possible, but some sort of inspection should be done, and we'll have an informal driver's meeting before we leave, where we can go over trail etiquette, rules, etc.

Of course if you're bringing that big ol' 5th wheel, you could probably store a small brewery in there for back at camp! :wink:

True on the stock part!

Lets keep it to making it informal as you said and still make sure their brakes are up to snuff and have a fire extinguisher. Remember only you can prevent fires. :wink:

What that supposed to mean? It's not like we're bringing some crapo beer, like Moosehead! :wink:

I don't brew for alcoholic content, as my beer is for drinking, not just getting drunk, but they do typically run around 6%, which is about twice what your average American macrobrew has. So what do you consider "beer" :?:

Good 'ol Canadian ey. I like to taste my beer as well, I don't drink to just get pissed. Nothin' can beat a crisp cold Canadian, bottle though, cans taste like crap.

Cans suck pretty much everywhere! I bottled mine, until I got the party pig last year. Works great, and keeps the beer fresher than a keg! (And it's much easier than filling bottles!). I brewed a nice creamy stout for St. Patrick's day, and still have a bit left in the pig. Had some last night, and it's as good as the first pint! :D

For summer, I prefer lighter beers, like IPA's and Amber Ales. For next year's get together, I'll probably bottle a Hefeweisen (my wife's favorite) and an Amber Ale in the pig, unless anyone has a particular preference (but no lagers!!!)

Hey, I think I may have a prob.

No, not THAT!

Shane and I finished tacking up the roll bar tonight and started talking about spare tire placement. Then we started measuring. Then we started saying, "where the hell are we gonna PUT it?".

Try to find a place to hang a 33x12.50 spare on an LJ where it ain't in the way and you kin see around it. I may haffa pull a trailer wit the spare init.

This is gonna be tricky.

Will a can of fix-a-flat count as a spare in the safety inspection?

Well you might have at least a regular size spare (a donut spare :wink: ) It will look like it is one compared to your 33's. LOL

Just in case you do get a flat. Hopefully no one gets a flat. I'm sure you could borrow one if you do get a flat. My main concern is for everyone to have a Fire Extinguisher and that the brakes AND emergency brake works.

Okay, so smuz gets warm beer, and jimny gets a cold. (will the flu work?)

For a spare, a lot of people I know who run 33's use a 33x9.50 for a spare. It's lighter, and usually easier to mount. Don't know if this helps you much though. On my Samurai I have 32" Swampers (which measure out at 32.25" and a 30" spare (which measures 28.5") As long as it will get you off the trail! Oh wait, did you weld your diffs? Then you better have the same diameter spare then!

yes, with a welded dif it WILL pull if you have a smaller tire on one side! I have that problem when my 4 wheeler tire gets low on air. its got locked front and rear difs too. its really bad on pavement. you can hardly go straight.

Yup. At least lockers can unlock. If you're welded, you'll get pulled all over the trail. It doesn't pull as bad on the street, though, 'cuz something's gonna break really quick! :(
