Something to add to your LJ collection

Post by deimos » Sun Mar 05, 2006 11:51 pm

While looking through some Frank Herbert (author of the Dune series) books at the used book store the other day I stumbled across something startling. When I picked up deimos_jr at school I handed him the book and saw him do this in the seat behind me...   I guess he's been posting too much because he actually made that face several times in a row, just as he does in his posts! :D

The artists name is Paul Youll. We did a little research and I've included the link to a larger image of the cover art and his primary website. I was tempted to contact him via his site to see if he had an LJ80 (deimos_jr's guidance) and has ever visited LJ10.com.

His contact info is on his website. I thought about sending him an email but haven't yet.
This is the 2004 reprint of the book. Deimos_jr saw it on ebay and half.com for a few bucks; it can probably still be found at Borders or other book stores.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D I was so amazed I wanted to stare at the cover all day. When my dad picked me up from school, He said, " went to Great Propects today ( kinda like a used Walmart full of cool junk.) and your not going to believe what I found." I just assumed he was going to say a knuckle sandwhich and jab me in the gut, but he pulled out the book and sent me into aw for the rest of the day. On ebay it was ruffly $10.00 after shipping.

Yes, it is an LJ80. You can tell from the rear fenders - LJ80's had wider axles... I think the last of the LJ50's might've also (the LJ50 III) but we're gonna just say it's an LJ80.

Must be a RHD LJ80 (or the painting has been reversed) because the fuel filler and the spare tire swing arm on my LJ80 are on the passenger side :?

Oooo, good eye Meatloaf!

The painting has to be reversed - all LJ80's had the fuel filler on the right side, regardless of whether it was RHD or LHD.

Except for the one on Smuz's clock!

That's why I trusted your advice, kid. You've done a lot more research and reading than I have! Good job. 8)

But the most obvious reason it is a LJ80 is the hard top doors on a soft top. Only the LJ80 came out with that combination
