BTW, got my guide to the Moab trails in yesterday's mail. Stayed up 'till 11:30 reading it, then had to get up early for work, so I'm a little tired. Looks like we're going to have a lot of fun!

From reading the trail descriptions in the book (which were updated as of this year, and contain pics from last years EJS) and online, I think the LJ's will be fine on any of the easy or moderate trails, and could do some of the difficult trails as well without too much risk of damage. With that in mind, I'm going through looking for "loop" type trails that we can easily do in a day. Unfortunately, most of the trails closest to Moab are also the most difficult, with a high risk of body damage, so we will likely be doing some highway time to get to/from the trails.

Hmmm, I thought I had posted this, but I don't see it here, so...

Slickrock Campground will start accepting reservations for 2009 dates on November 1st. You certainly don't need to make a reservation right away, since we're going midweek, and it isn't quite "peak season", but the campground will probably fill up; the cabins definitely will, as there are only 14 of them, and they say they always fill up first. Of the cabins, seven of them will sleep three people, and seven will sleep four, so some of you could share a cabin and split the cost if you want. A number of people from my local Suzuki club want to join us, and most of them want cabins, so I think we have enough people to fill five of them already.

When you make your reservation, be sure to tell them that you are with lj10.com. They will make every effort to keep us all together as a group.

We're planning on coming. I told Sean from Low Range Offroad about the meet since I drive right by their shop and he asked if it was open for other zukes? He was also asking if we were doing any sort of raffles at all?

I've invited my local Suzuki club to come, so yes, it's open to other Zuks. Sounds like we'll probably have 4-5 rigs from Wazuks going, though that will likely change between now and next year. If that pans out, I may just bring one LJ, and my Samurai, so I can do some harder trails with the other built Zuks, and run my LJ10 with the other LJ's a couple of days.

If he decides to go, please let me know, so I can track how many rigs and people are coming. Hadn't planned on a raffle, as this is usually more of a casual get together than anything else, but we could do something.

Also, for you tent campers, a lot of the tent sites are "doubles", which I assume means they can accomodate two tents. If you split the cost of these, it's only $14 per couple. There's some risk of thunderstorms this time of year, but the tent sites all have shelters, so your tent will stay dry.

I'm going to make an effort to build my 81, then be able to do both types of trails. 8)

Shouldn't be a problem. You'll need to book it directly with the campground though, and they won't accept reservations for next year until November. I think we're going to have at least half the cabins booked for the time we are there, so book early!

Yes, I got mine a few weeks ago. The one thing I didn't like about the one on Amazon is that it is the first edition, printed in 2000. Maybe you'll get the new (2008) edition, but I didn't trust it, so I bought mine elsewhere. The 2008 edition has a few more trails added, and updated trail ratings. (They mention the differences between rating in the first edition and the new rating, be it harder or easier, and why it was changed. It'll be interesting to see how much they changed it if you indeed receive the 1st edition.

When I ordered mine I emailed customer service to verify that I was getting the second edition.

Have your eyes on any trails yet? Fins N Things looks cool.

Yes, I was looking at Fins N Things, as it is close to town (no highway driving in the LJ's!) Looks like we could do it in a couple of hours, so it might make for a good morning run. A lot of the trails are farther away from town, so I was also looking at 4-5 trails north of town that would make for a good "loop". Would probably have to be an "all-day" run though, similar to the Saturday run this year.

The more I look, the more I want to spend about 3 weeks there!
