Some concerns about crossing the border

Wilson has a title, tags and insurance.
Mouser and Sleepy have none of the above.

Why do I get the feeling that trying to take an unregistered vehicle across the border and bringing it back may cause me grief?

Also, what is the Canadian Police's view about pulling a trailer behind a fifth-wheel camper?

Another concern is tag and title for trailer. Oklahoma does not require either. Tag agent did provide me with letter from OK Tax Commission explaining such.

Ohhhh yeah, it will be easy to get it across the line but trying to get back into the US with a LJ on a trailer without a tittle and or tagged.

I don't think we will have to do any checking into this, I know the answer, I had better get it/them tagged.

Hers is some good info (Q&A) and also (I think) a place to contact. Looking throught the (Q&A) looks like I have some work to do. Looks like there may be some Stations that only process vehicles other than what you are driving at specific times. Thanks for the heads up Smuz.

P.S. We got passports recently. Took less than 2 wks.

Hey, I posted the link to Canada gun regs toward helping some good guy from spending his vacation at the border. Smuz has it right - "DON’T". Believe their web site also had info about alcohol so be careful. I don’t remember seeing anything there about Angles, Hell or otherwise so will have to wing that part.

I haven’t done guns for over 30 yr. when the doe and her fawn decided to come back to watch me, the great white hunter, taking a smoke break while standing over the field dressed buck they had been with.

The MV Coho sails between Port Angeles Wa and Victoria B.C., I have sailed aboard her hundreds of times. They have a very, very clear message over the pa system advising that guns can not be brought into Canada, they even offer to hold them for you if you have any and you can collect them on the way back. One loser ignores this and off he goes with his wife. Well somehow they suspect weapons and search the car, sure enough they find the weapons but there are also several unlabeled videos. Well we don't allow child porn either so everyone piles into a room to see what is on the tapes. Well poor Mrs. loser is rather red faced as these are naughty movies she starred in for her darling hubby. Apparently they had to sit there and watch all of the movies in their entirety just to be certain there were no kiddies involved.

In 1999 I took a trip to Alaska. When the customs station below Winnipeg saw that I was from the west US and was going to Alaska, they were CONVINCED that I had a handgun somewhere in my rig.

It took 4 hours and a VERY thorough search of the truck and trailer before they let me go. And they still were only convinced that they hadn't found it.

And no, I did NOT have a gun.

So, I don't try to take guns to Canada.

I was figuring on putting a batch of homebrew in the bed of the truck in front of the wheel well, then putting the camper on. It's wasted space, and I figure I won't be drinking much of it until the meet anyway. Maybe I won't - if they do check there and find it, they'll be sure there's something illegal in it, and end up "testing" it all at the border.

yeah they will be "testing" it alright

somethin' to think about is if there's any gap there, they can get a mirror into that cavity to see whatcha got in there. consider yer camoflage accordingly

as for firearms, I'm a firearms owner and have a pile of rifles and handguns.

Laws here are just as silly as some of your states, they really frown on handguns but now so much on rifles.

As for bringing them into the country your going to have problems, lots of problems.

Now if it was hunting season, and you had game tags, and taken the time to get the Canadian licences and register the firearms, and then get your US export permits then its not a big deal. Just a whole lot of paperwork. :?

So it's easier to buy a gun in Canada and throw it away when you go home...

Just to clear it up once and for all, july is a very snowy month in canada so be sure to pack warm clothes and heaters, if u have a snowmobile feel free to bring it and be POSITIVE u have snow chains. Also it is illegal to feed the polar bears or hit a penguin with your car, as they will impound it.

We are still in prohibition so any alcohol u can aquire over here will be illegal and they will impound your vehicle for that as well

some simple respect when entering our homes or "igloo's" as foreigners call them are to remove facial icicles as they damage our bearskin rugs.

...but rest assured u can get a free face lift and tummy tuck on us, as we have the best healthcare system in the world, keeping in mind we do not have anesthetic, as like alcohol, mind altering substances are illegal.

You can't fool me... I've seen your igloo!
