Getting ready for the 2007 Meet
Moderator: stevec
How long does it take to put wood on the trailer? Maybe an hour?
Get the trailer done, and bring both LJ's to the meet, even if Dakota isn't done. At the CO meet we saw artzuk's LJ50 powered LJ20 and Kaity's LJ20, even though they weren't running. I think bringing Dakota could inspire a lot of us to get our LJ's looking nice!
Tops would be awesome, if you can get them done!

Top priority has to go to the top two, failure of those is not an option !Jimny wrote:Here's my short list of things that need to be done before the meet:
Need to get the wood put on my trailer so I can haul my LJ's
Need to get back to work on Dakota so that maybe it will be ready in time for the meet.
Need to make at least two sets of tops.
Need to do a couple more sets of seats with foam. The problem is that I am having a hard time finding the right foam.
*Next Day* Reality sat in last night, there is NO WAY I will have Dakota ready for the meet, so (this will make Steve happy) I will work on tops and seats till then. I can flat tow Ranger to the meet.

Suzy, a 79 LJ 80 tin top.
Misfit, a 79 LJ 81.

I doubt we'll be going anywhere close to that fast at the meet...
I got the RHD added to my insurance. Cost me a whopping $22 per year. Registration/title change last fall was close to $200, but that's because I had to report the actual sales price, and I paid extra to get it registered as a collector car (with the original plates). As a collector car, I never have to pay registration fees again.

Running out of time... I'll be out of town for the next two weeks. By my calculations, I only have 4 days left to get ready!
LJ10:
Replace oil line washers (on their way from SteveC)
Fix/make "door bars"
Tow rig (Jeep Cherokee):
Complete tune-up
Decide if the nearly-bald tires will make it
Find a trailer for it to tow (still sweet-talking SteveI)
Install 12V outlet for power inverter & cooler
Other:
Shop
Pack
Enough time wasted... I've gotta get to work!

Getting ready for Cooke City
Think we will have most things completed when we head out. Worked long days and nights (courtesy of being retired) on building trailer. Welding, etc is completed but still need to do wiring, etc. Brake controller should be in on Mon. Have to go to Dr. at OKC Thur. May trailer the LJ there for test drive on trailer.
Still need to do some carb. and front spring work on the LJ.
Finished rebuilding windshield frame today between visits with family. Could not get a better used one so had to go to plan "B" which included calling the "Bondo" folks and request they put on a third shift. Will take it in for new glass on Mon.
It is probably too late for shirt info. If not need one for a "big bellied" man and one for a normal sized retired lady.
This will be our first meet. We will be staying in Cook City at the Antlers Lodge which is supposed to be on Main St. so will have to find where you all are camped at.
Drive safely.

Not if you are not going!!!!tweeder wrote:one of them XXL shirts is mine
Since I probably will not have time (or money) to finish my trailer, I will be bringing my LJ in the back of my PU. I need to fix the fuel tank switch that switches between the two tanks, it's stuck on one tank, I like making as few as stops as possible so I will be fixing that.
My LJ is ready, put disc brakes all the way around so now it will stop when I need it to.
I'd rather be driving my LJ!
Got the final t-shirt design from the wife this morning... She had a vendor do it for her as a favor (it's good to be in management!) I'll order a few XXL's, so Myers and Tweeder can each have one if they want one. Should be able to get them next Monday. Cutting it close I know, so they better not screw it up!

I thought I had posted this already, but didn't see it at first glance, so i'll post it here. From what I have read, there isn't any cell phone service in Cooke City, so don't plan on being able to use one. I'll be monitoring CB Channel 23 as much as possible (think I need to check the CB in the truck, now that I think of it!)

Update: After blowing up my riding mower last night, I decided to work on the RHD. I had done the rear brakes as soon as I bought it, and the PO rebuilt the M/C, but I hadn't touched the fronts at all. Pulled one of the drums off, and someone obviously had gone through the fronts not too long ago. The seals looked almost new, the drum was nice and smooth, and the shoes (from an LJ80) had very little, if any wear. Blasted and painted the drum white since I had it off, and put it back together with one of the freshly painted Tacoma wheels. Also put new points and condenser in, since the points cr@pped out at Liberty. So I just have to sandblast and paint two more wheels, and get them mounted up, and the RHD will be ready to go!
Dash plaques are packed in the truck already, and I'll pick up the shirts on Tuesday. I do think I need to do the front brakes on the tow rig before I go, but they're pretty easy to do.

wish i'd been able too see this before they left.......guess i'll just add it to my tab...stevec wrote:Looks like the shirts are going to run $14 each this year.
A legend in my own mind.
Shirts and Pot Luck items
Steve, thanks for the shirt info and for ordering the "big" one. Plan to leave out of here tomorrow (Tue. 26) and making a few stops before getting to Cooke City on Friday. The wife said she would have to wait till we got to Sheridan WY. to decide on food items for pot luck meal.

Geez, he's almost there already! Hope his trip is going well!tweeder wrote:procrastinating?
dad called last night from Laramie, WY
We're leaving Wednesday after work, driving to Spokane (about 275 miles, all I-90). Leaves about 600 miles for Thursday, hopefully we get there Thursday night, but if not we'll camp at Red Lodge, and head over the pass Friday morning. Definitely want to be in Cooke City no later than noon Friday. Probably just pull into town, and unload one of the LJ's to scout out a camping spot and post signs.
