Great job with the video Glen - I found the full 12 minute version.

Looking at that smoke, I really should have replaced both plugs instead of just #2; I think that is why it was missing on some of those steeper climbs. I replaced it last night and it looked almost as bad as the one I replaced at A&W!

After about breaking my back hitting a bump on the main road at the beginning of this run, I decided a good winter project would be to pull the plywood out of the seat bases and put rubber straps back in...

Yeah, I was riding with you when you hit that bump, it was a big bounce alright!
Fixing the seats is a good thing.
LJ80s, I can't collect them all, but I might still try...

I couldn't remember if it was you or your brother.

Seats are done and ready to go back in! Even put an extra inch of foam on the bottom.

Thinking back to this meet, I remember how my LJ10 seemed underpowered on some of the climbs (even for an LJ10). In Moab the following year I noticed the same thing. Also fouled another set of plugs in Moab, so when I got home I did a compression test - only 90 in each cylinder. Fast forward to this winter, and I figured it was a good time to rebuild the engine, since I was pretty sure it had never even been cracked open before. I had a spare set of jugs, so I sent them off to be bored out to fit 0.5mm over pistons. Got them back last Thursday so I rebuilt the engine over the weekend. Here is what I found in cylinder #2:

The pistons were standard 3-ring pistons, which leads me to believe they were original (and nearly 50 years old!) If I can get another 50 years out of these pistons, I'll be happy!
