Thank you John, you pretty well summed up my feelings about Liberty. I average about two trips per year there now, and there are still trails back there I haven't been on!

If you go out past the town of Liberty on those FS roads, there are some very nice new homes going in, mostly used as second homes, though there are still some permanent residents.

Also, when we were there over Memorial Day, I talked to a few locals, and they told me about a Canadian company that took over a mining claim 2 or 3 years ago, and have since pulled over $9 million worth of gold out! Most of it is "wire-grade" which apparently is more pure than jewelry-grade gold, and thus more expensive. I had no idea there was a difference!

I gotta tell ya, that was the first time I've ever driven an lj10 and I wish mine had come with a two-stroke! That thing was awesome! (aside from the burning clutch and lack of power).

I had a blast even with the concussion! John's long and completely true speech makes me appreciate this state even more.

I plan to have mine drivable and stoppable by late sep. Which means it will most likely be at the next meet. :D

Just got home a few hours ago. Long trip, but a great time.

I'd write more, but I got a very demanding parrot wanting to know where i've been and why the hell I left him behind with a sitter. He needs sum personal time.

Yup. Long but uneventful.

BTW: Wilson used a bit less than 2.5 gallons of gas. Gawd, I love that!

I haven't checked, but I think my LJ10 used about half a tank. Of course, we did a little touring Friday before anyone else showed up, putting up signs and just driving around the campgorund.

The hard top looks good! Is it a factory or did someone build it? Looks like they knew what they were doing.

It's factory. Even got the big Suzuki "S" on the side.

video

Post by Glen Friesen »

Alright all it started to snow here today which made me think that I need to get some video up. I wanted to edit it more, trim it down a little bit, it's kinda long right now. Make sure you watch in the middle of the video for John slidding down the hill sideways... the camera was a little shakey but you can see it. This should be a link here: http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid= ... 2&hl=en-CA

if that doesn't work just go to google video and search for "LJ-10 2006 meet"
1979 LJ-80, toyota drivetrain, 33" tires, aussie locker, 5.29's etc...

Man, did I even try to avoid that hole? Left a nice battle wound anyway. Cool video.

Oh no that is definitley a very clever Photoshop job. I don't do sideways and besides you would be clearly able to hear Rocket screaming if I did.

Most of the idling sounds in the background were from my little Wilson. I generously loaned him to Nick to drive before Mouser decided to puke his coolant.

Then I was stuck at the campsite whilst Nick took my baby and had fun.

Just kidding, I'm glad sumbody had sum quality time with Wilson, he is a sweetheart.
