Guess you can scratch one of that list now guys :-(

The shutdown that was planned at work to start next week and run for three weeks has been postponed for three weeks due a major malfunction in another part of the plant. :pissed:

This will cost BP an absolute fortune in having to pay for a lot of gear just to sit there for three weeks waiting but it cannot be avoided.

This makes it start on the 5th of June and finish now on the 26th of June. There is no way I can get out of this. I am night shift supervisor of cleaning all the heat exchangers and vessels in the oil refinery that are getting taken off line for the shutdown. Even the boss's holidays got cancelled and he is not to happy either.

Looks like I will just have to wait for the photo's and great trip reports that will come up. :-(

On a side note I found these dvd/videos you may want to look at.

Silverton, Colorado Video: The area surrounding Silverton tells the story of the hardships experienced by the miners in the late 1800's and early 1900's. The video shows many items that were left behind, including old railroad beds, boarding houses, mill sites, aerial tramways and mining camps. Historic dirt mining roads connect Silverton with Ouray, Telluride, Lake City and several ghost towns in the area. Most of these roads are suitable for any stock 4 wheel drive vehicle (SUV) during the summer months and are not passable during the winter months. Follow along on an enclosed map with a group of 4x4s, including a Ford Explorer, Range Rover, Grand Cherokees and CJs, traverse this spectacular country. Some of the historic sites visited include: Imogene Pass, Tomboy Mine, Ophir Pass, Black Bear Pass, Alta Lakes, Animas Forks and Mineral Point. 72 minutes. Area map included with video.

You mean the shutdown is June 5-26? The meet is June 21-23rd! You can make it, and fly back out of Denver! :D Or do you need to be there during this time? Man that sucks, I was looking forward to meeting you in person.

I'd guess that more "work" gets done during a shut down than any other time, except during a breakdown.
Sorry to hear you won't be coming... glad to hear you have a job worth having.

It is three weeks straight of twelve hour days. I get one day off in the middle of those three weeks. I have to be here so I can keep my job.

This was going to be my spending money for the trip too.

I LIKE IT!!!!!!

I read an article in the travel section about how theme cruises, and specifically about a Harley cruise where for a (very reasonable) fee, you can bring your bike on the boat. It was around $1,100 per person for a 7-day cruise, which is only $3-400 more than a regular cruise, but you stow your bike in the hold, then at each port they bring all the bikes up, and you get to ride your own bike off the ship and tour the islands. Other benefits of the package: You're always the first off the ship, and you get a police escort out of the port city (no stopping at traffic lights, stop signs, etc.)
