For the most understanding camper, we nominate spooky ole Alice for being a good sport while camping in a "very" small tent :ohno: while her "very" nice 5th wheel was left at home. All in order for Smuz to bring his two LJs.

And to make fun of our selfs, we nominate ourselfs for several awards. Most dogs  , best campsite to resemble a bunch of squatters :? , First to arrive (which may explain the previous) :P , second to last to leave  , only LJ to not have an engine under the hood :?: , only LJ owner not of legal driving age in any state :hippi: , best terrorizing of the camp with a electric scooter (our son) , and worse running 3 wheeler in the country :Crying: .

And, in my own mind, the best joke to pull on Smuz... "So what is that thang, some kind of Jeep?"

All in all, was nice meeting all of you. Was a memorable week. And boy I need a shower.

I agree whole-heartedly with the awards. This was a great get-together. I can't wait for next year.
The above is my opinion. It is subject (like all my opinions) to debate, disagreement, rude gestures, and loud raspberries.

I second that!!!!

Sounds like you all had a great time!!

I take it steves tranny went on him on the way there? How much? and how long did it take for them to replace it?

I know Russ had some troubles that took some visits to the parts store but he didn't have time to tell me when he called me to ask directions to the camp site.
I'd rather be driving my LJ!

Okay, I'm only gonna tell this once...

The trip started out great: Yellowstone was beautiful (this is the first year it snowed on our wedding anniversary, June 12th). LJ's got a lot of attention driving around, and didn't miss a beat.

Tranny went out about 10 miles from Vernal, Utah, Friday night before the meet (June 17th). I unloaded the V and drove it into town, called a towtruck, and went back to wait with the girls. After an hour, I went back and called again to check the status. The tow truck driver didn't get the message from dispatch, but I got a hold of him directly, and he met me a few minutes later and we towed ewverything in (truck, camper, trailer with one LJ). Ford dealer in Vernal had a service dept. open Saturday, but with only a skeleton crew (oil changes, etc.). We camped at the dealer Friday night, then Sat. morning, we unhitched the trailer, and took the camper to a KOA campground a couple of miles away. The Ford dealer gave us a loaner car (a little Escort but it had A/C!) so we explored Dinosaur Nat'l Monument and swam in the campground pool. Made a few calls, including to smuz to tell him we were going to be late, but cell phone reception was poor. Monday they put a new tranny in, and we left about 4:30pm. Drove to Montrose and stayed in the WalMart parking lot (didn't want to do Red Mountain Pass at night!) and went the rest of the way Tuesday. Helped out an older couple at the top of Red Mountain Pass with car trouble (it's amazing how sympathetic you can be right after YOU'VE had problems!) and arrived in Silverton around 1:30 or 2:00. First thing I see is penguin and his friend driving their LJ's, then smuz driving Wilson. Smuz pulls up, and shouts "WHERE THE HELL 'VE YOU BEEN!!!!" Guess he couldn't hear my message too well.

I'll talk more about the meet in another thread, but the rest of our trip went fine. Total cost: $3,078 for trnasmission and towing, plus $189 for the prepaid Durango-Silverton train tickets we had to forfeit.

Linda should be downloading pics today, if she has time. I'll post them as I get them! BTW KDKG, Linda really wants to see the pics (video? ) of that fox!

I thot you'd prolly figgure out who I wuz by the gentiel salutation. Besides, I'd been real worried!

Couldn't hear yer message too well???? I couldn't hear the sunday-witch at ALL!!! All I heard was "Smuz <garble> saturday you mite have left <garble, garble,........garble>". After you didn't show up, I suspected that might have been you on the horn, but I didn't know the circumstances.

Boy, am I glad you showed up, tho.
