Wilson gets a new tag

Post by Smuz » Tue Oct 21, 2014 1:14 pm

Finally got off my fundament and titled and tagged Wilson as an antique. $40 one time fee for the plate. No annual registration fee anymore, just $12/yr property tax from now on.

I kin live w/ that.
The above is my opinion. It is subject (like all my opinions) to debate, disagreement, rude gestures, and loud raspberries.

I run antique plates on the LJ at around $20 per year but here the cops can get on your case because they are only to be used to shows and "sunday" drives.

Which fits Smuz perfectly. His daily schedule goes like this.

:poke: Alice puts some $$ into her pocket, safely secures Smuz into Wilson, drives him to the picture show and afterwards drives him to an ice cream parlor for a sundae. And if Smuz looks like this :D instead of this, :pissed: , once in a while Alice will also drive him over to the local VIN plate swap meet.

Have seen Smuz look like this :D after a few beers and like this :pissed: after a few too many.

Saw Alice look like this  one time. It was at the Waipaous Alberta meet after Wilson topped a very steep climb. The  came when Wilson flattened out for about 3 feet and then did an even steeper decent. Alice also started speaking in a different language during the decent.

I do remember Alice that day in Canada; I think Smuz's ears may still be burning a bit! I've seen Smuz :D and :pissed: but usually :D . One time at Disney he was :ohno: ; that was when he let me borrow Wilson, and I played a little joke on him - as we were pulling back in the campground I shut it off and had jimny tow me back to camp.

I have all my LJ's registered as collector vehicles, as well as Moneypenny. In Washington, it just needs to be 30 years old, and cannot be used as a daily driver. No "weekends only" or "only to car shows"; you can take it to the store, or on a Sunday drive with no problems. The only time you'd get in trouble is if a cop sees you driving it to work at the same time every day, but I doubt many cops are paying attention to that. When we register, we either pay a $20 fee for collector plates, or put on some accurate plates from that model year. After that, no registration fees at all, and no property taxes. I'll put collector plates on my '85 RX7 next year, and on my Samurai the year after that (assuming I get the new body on.)

Oklahoma’s minimum is based on vehicle’s age and number of axles. Believe I pay $26 per LJ each year. Oklahoma does have a Black Tag (about $7 year I think) which keeps the tag current but does not allow vehicle on highway so proof of liability insurance is not required. Nice for stuff in restoration.

No annual property tax on licensed motor vehicles in Oklahoma. However, there is an excise tax every time a vehicle changes ownership (excluding the time the vehicle is owned by a dealer). It varies between cars and trucks and new vs used, but believe new cars cost 3 1/2 percent of purchase price.

Many Indian Nations within Oklahoma have their own tribal system of tags and taxes (and marriage, divorce, and other such crimes). The Oklahoma excise tax on my neighbor’s new Ford car would have cost him over $1300. However, as his wife is a member of the Kaw Tribe she paid around $600 tribal excise instead. About the same difference between the state and her tribal license tags.
