We were wondering about accommodations in Silver City. We didn't know that the Hotel was now open in the summer time, and nothing else was coming up in our searches.
Nancy says that the hotel is probably haunted because it is so old, and isn't sure she wants to stay there

Re: Oil change
Wow, none of them could figure out it was a two stroke? And I guess none of them paid any attention to that tank on the firewall either... This was actually meant as an indictment of the current state of hired help at motor vehicle repair and parts stores. If something doesn't appear in their 'comp...

I've been instructed that I need to say the previous story line was completely fictitious, and that any resemblance to Nancy is coincidental.
Besides, Nancy would never, ever, take a vehicle in for a oil change

Re: Stories from the meet
PS: I did hear Stevec say (just before he threw my fat butt out of his LJ10 trying to climb a hill) "I shoulda brought my Samurai". Which is what I had been saying to myself every since Mouser crapped his coupling. LJ's lack a little something (power) at over 12,000 feet. Lack of power? I...

Have arrived!
Have made it to our room at the Prospector Motel in Silverton, after an uneventful trip from Texas. Our Nissan minitruck didn't really like pulling the trailer up the mountain from Durango to well, but it did it. Have already done an initial exploration of the area, and it looks like It's going to b...

From the looks of the weather for Silverton for the coming week, we won't have to worry about dusty conditions. Bring a coat, the highs are around 50 (F) with lows almost Freezing!

We're planning in being at the meet for the whole week. My job has me working up in the TX Panhandle right up to the time we have to leave. I'll be getting off the worksite about 6-ish, Check out of the hotel, drive 4.5 hrs back to Sweetwater, load up the trailer, pack the gear, and leave for a 14 (...

Expansion Chamber Article
The May/June 2011 issue of Sand Sports Magazine has an article about two-stroke expansion chambers that is worth reading. It covers the basics of chamber design in fairly simplistic detail. Although it doesn't go into actual chamber design, it gives some information into why they are designed like t...

We've got train reservations for Sunday (kids are free :D ), but it doesn't return until 7:30pm, and I don't want to drive that road in the dark! Nancy and I did the train to Silverton a few years ago, and they had buses waiting in Silverton for passengers that didn't want to do the train back to D...

Great job!
You can use a piece of speedometer cable to run through the fuel pickup line to knock anything loose that may be plugging that up too.
Sounds like the instructions are pretty much the same as the ones that came with the KBS coating I used.

That's in my backyard - I've been planning a trip with my local club for this summer. They have mostly newer Suzuki's, but I'm planning to take my LJ81. Did you have a specific time in mind? Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but this year I graduate to 4 weeks of vacation time, and I've been looking for a good long 4wd road trip to take the LJ on. In my research of possible trips, I came across this one that sounds like it would be fun: "The Washington Backcountry...
