Re: Getting ready for the meet...
Guess I better get off my butt and start packing! (and hope I don't have any of those issues!) Camper is still in storage, and I haven't pulled the carb off Cheez Whiz yet. Maybe I'll work on the carb tomorrow night... Planning to pack this weekend. I guess you all are probably leaving before me thi...

BTW, if anyone has specific requests for parts, let me know and I'll be sure to pack them. I'll bring the usual stuff as well.

Dion - Glad you can make it! The official dates are July 21-23rd (Saturday - Monday). Sounds like most of us will be staying at River Haven.
Phil - It'll be good to see you and Edie again!

Re: Getting ready for the meet...
I didn't get squat done. Left work early on Friday to go camping, got back Sunday, mowed the lawn, and called it a day. The girls are down at grandma's house swimming in the pool, so I should have time in the evening this week. Summer has arrived in the northwest. It's up to the mid 80's here, and h...

Re: Date, Location
Posted this in another thread as well, but we are offically staying at River Haven. Have reservations for two spots, and they have plenty of room for our trailers. We'll leave Friday evening and drive to Pendleton, then arrive at River Haven Saturday, late morning or early afternoon.

Re: Getting ready for the meet...
Steve. Have you determined where you're staying yet? I guess this thing revolves around you and I'd like to be close, honey. Well, aren't you sweet.... We have two sites reserved at River Haven RV Park, 6920 Old Bruneau Highway, Marsing, ID. 83639 208-896-4268. One site for us and one for Pa...

Re: Trip around Patagonia with a LJ80
I believe that originally my LJ80 was a model V and some previous owner overturned it. Due to this, they modified it and put a soft top. Now, it is similar to the model Q but in the but in the papers of the vehicle he says "LJ80V". I thought that might be the case. I normally don't like t...

Re: Trip around Patagonia with a LJ80
That is awesome! You should post this over at expedition portal too!
Tell us more about your LJ80. Seeing the doors, I assumed it was an LJ80Q, but that b-pillar doesn't look stock. Is it a converted LJ80V (hardtop with the top cut off), or a different body (i.e. fiberglass)?

What an awesome trip! It's amazing what you can fit in an LJ!!!
Are you finished with the trip, or still travelling?

Re: Getting ready for the meet...
Well I replaced the steering bushing on Rocky (that was MUCH easier than I thought it would be!), but the front end shimmy is still there. :-( Doesn't feel as bad as it did, but it's there. I might put a set of NDT's on him to see if it rides better. I think the ball joints are all shot, as they fee...

Re: Getting ready for the meet...
One more thing: gas prices. It is my understanding that most of you are used to paying about $3.25/gallon these days. Not so on the west coast. Prices are starting to drop, but unleaded is running about $4.35 (down from $4.55 a few weeks ago), and diesel is right around $4.00/gallon. Idaho will be a...

Re: Getting ready for the meet...
Oh yes, we made reservations at River Haven RV Park, which is only 4-5 miles from Marsing. They have full hookups (Linda and Mom like this!), are right by the river, have a place for our trailers, and allow pets. Our reservations are for three nights (Sat. - Mon.); we should get there Saturday late ...

Re: Getting ready for the meet...
I vote for Wilson - I don't recall you ever having had a problem with him. My "to-do" list is fairly short, depending on which rigs I bring. Truck, camper and trailer were pulled out of storage for Memorial Day weekend, and except for the truck batteries being dead, were just fine. I shoul...

Re: Date, Location
My parents are leary about taking their motorhome up to Silver City - it doesn't have as much clearance as your trailer! I think Larry and Tom are staying in cabins at Givens Hot Springs (which is quite aways from Silver City), but since we'll have pets with us, we might just find a camping spot on ...

100*??? But it's only April! We just hit 70* for the first time this year over the weekend!
I'd love to do a meet in AZ (especially the northern part, where it is cooler! )

Re: Date, Location
Yeah, I liked the idea of staying at the hot springs as well, as it seemed fairly central to the different trails, and would be much easier on the tow rigs. I'm really surprised they don't allow pets at all. I'll call them in a few days (when I can talk again, been a little under the weather) and ve...

Re: Date, Location
As of last October, we have a new four footed friend (Charlie) that looks like a smaller version of Pat and Stephen's (Christy). Charlie would love to be friends with Christy, but apparently Christy doesn't feel the same. Pat also usually brings a cat or two, but I wouldn't call them "friends&q...

Re: where will we be trailiing
I found this link to OHV trail maps of the area. http://www.blm.gov/id/st/en/fo/owyhee/ohv.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I printed the small map - it's a bit hard to read without a magnifying glass, but still a good reference to keep in the glovebox. I'll see if my fr...

Re: where will we be trailiing
If we stay at Givens Hot Springs, we'll still go to Silver City one day. The other days we may go on trails that are closer. I plan to bring a few gas cans with me to keep the tanks topped off. I think one 5-gallon can per rig would be plenty - that's almost a full tank in an LJ, and if you arrive w...

Re: Date, Location
Larry, the Silver City hotel is only open in summer, and the roads into Silver City are not open in the winter. The campground in Givens Hot Springs has trailers and cabins for rent - the trailers should have all of the amenities you need. (Not sure about the cabins). Mom is worried about driving th...

Still trying to find out if the roads into Silver City are RV friendly, but mom found this place: http://www.givenshotsprings.com/home" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; They have a couple of cabins, plus trailers, etc. to rent, also RV and dry camping sites. Might be a good pl...
