Re: Date, Location

I can't do a Moab meet next year. We're committed to the Italy trip we didn't do this year, which only leaves Linda with a bit over a week of vacation for the whole year. Plus, with the girls in school (which now starts the week before Labor Day weekend), the only time I would be available is late J...

Re: Taylor Bridge Fire

Well, apparently the Taylor Bridge fire in August was just a warmup. The Table Mountain Complex fires started a week and a half ago (lightning), and exploded this week. There were four main fires in the Table Mountain complex, but they are now one big fire. Here's an interactive map of the fires as ...

Re: Date, Location

We may want to change the location of this one - the Table Mountain Fire has burned about half the 4WD trails around Liberty this week. :-(

Date, Location

I figure it's time to start planning for next year! For 2013, I thought about trying something a little different. The historic Naches Wagon Trail runs through the Cascades in western Washington, and is open to 4x4's around July 15th of each year. I can plot a course that takes us over the Naches Tr...

Re: Pics and reports thread

I am absolutely positive that someone took some pics while at the meet other than those posted. I sure would like to see them, I've looked at all of Steve's and mine are much to disturbing to look at for me. (I really think it is the cameras fault because I took a perfectly serviceable pic of Steve...

Taylor Bridge Fire

The area around Liberty has been on the national news the last few nights due to the Taylor Bridge Fire that started on Monday, and has burned over 22,000 acres (about 35 sq. miles) in the first 48 hours, inlcuding 60 homes. For those who attended the 2006 LJ meet in Liberty, the fire is currently b...

...Steve and Pats lj20 ( I hope I'm getting the names right, along with being an awesome cameraman I have incredible recall) Yes, you got their names right. I should probably remind Stephen to replace all of those fuel lines too... They'll be up at our place this weekend, and he's bringing his stee...

Re: Pics and reports thread

We both used the 89 octane - what did you fill up with? I noticed they had 87, 89 and 90 (why only "1" octane difference between med. and high grade?) I always thought if you got the middle grade, the pump just took from both the low and high octane tanks, but I don't know for sure. We fil...

Re: Pics and reports thread

I want to say a big thanks to Dion and his friend Bruce, for showing us around on the trails. These meets are so much better when we have a local contact showing us around on trails, and better still when that local contact has an LJ.

THANKS! :hail:

Re: Pics and reports thread

We all, except for Stevec and Dion, made it without incident. I made it up just fine. Dion's LJ10, with 31x10.50's and all of about 80 psi compression, did not. We put his cooler in the back of my LJ10, swapped his 240# passenger (Bruce) with my 70# passenger (Hallie), and he made it, albeit in low...

Re: Pics and reports thread

One more thing: Someone had found a gas station just outside of Marsing with Ethanol-free gas, so we filled our tanks there. In hindsight, I think this was a mistake, at least Sunday night. When leaving for the trails Monday, the LJ81 just quit in camp, and wouldn't start. I tried and tried, almost ...

Re: Pics and reports thread

We got home last night a bit after 7:00. Partly cloudy and 71. About the same today. :Rude: We had a little miscommunication on Saturday - I told mom I'd be there no later than 3:00, hopefully earlier. We pulled in about 1:30. No biggie; I still had to unload everything, and like Smuz said, it was H...

Re: Getting ready for the meet...

We got home last night; decided to do a straight shot from Crater Lake. Unloaded LJ's and put them and the trailer away. Today washed the truck and camper, and I'm beat. BTW, it cooled off about 20 degrees the day you left, never got above the mid 80's. Probably cooler at the campground Monday than ...

Re: Getting ready for the meet...

Mom & Stephen should be arriving today, with Amber and Hallie. Linda and I are leaving this afternoon (hopefully these thunderstorms go away so I can finish hitching up!) and should be there around lunchtime tomorrow. LJ's are loaded on the trailer, and I should get a box of parts this afternoon...

See you there!

Looks like Cheez Whiz will be sitting this one out. We had a friend come over last night, so I didn't have a chance to work on him any more.

Re: Getting ready for the meet...

I cleaned the carb on Cheez Whiz last night, then fired it up. It was much louder than I remembered, and sure enough, the rear muffler was about split in half. Fit my last spare exhaust (used, but doesn't leak) and it is much quieter, but still not running right. I'll mess with it some more tonight,...

Re: Getting ready for the meet...

Well I dragged the truck and camper home finally, but Ruby sent me a t-case for the LJ81 (the one I've been wanting with the lower gears!) so I spent most of Saturday cleaning it up, putting new seals on it, repainting some of the painted pieces (covers, e-brake drum and backing plate) and installin...

Re: Getting ready for the meet...

That's a nice thing to have. I bring an infrared thermometer to check tire and bearing temperature on the road. If your tires are good, then most blowouts will start with a slow leak. As the tire slowly loses pressure, it runs hotter, until it blows. I also now carry two spares for my trailer. Learn...

Re: Getting ready for the meet...

Regarding parts, I'll bring what I have. I've had issues getting parts the past few months, so I'm out of a lot of stuff right now, but I'm being "told" that they'll be here next week sometime. Keep your fingers crossed!
