Re: Replace Lj10/20 drum brakes with disc brakes – a summary

Samurai drum brakes should just about bolt on (I think the bolt pattern is the same?), and gives you a rear-axle e-brake. That would be your best solution. If LJ 10 backing plates are the same as LJ 80's, then it just requires opening up the center hole of the Samurai backing plate to 2" to al...

Refers to the diameter and thread pitch. Don't know what the Lj size is though.

Re: Replace Lj10/20 drum brakes with disc brakes – a summary

One of the lj 10/20 pro's will have to confirm but I thought the splined part of the birfs are smaller than the lj80 so the sj410 birf will not work on a lj10/20?

Re: Met Someone who Sold LJ's New

Cool story. I also met a person who owned the dealership in town. It is actually a chainsaw shop but on the side he sold suzuki's from the Lj, to SJ, samurai then the start of the sidekick. Maybe you seen the dealership thread I started with pics of brand new Lj's?

What you mean?
Did he get an LJ 81, and what's the story behind it? Pictures. Did I miss something?

Re: All stories have to start somewhere

When I bought it (and the two Samurais) I got one battery between them all. Grossly oversized. So a new battery is in store. I would assume the same suggested battery for a Samurai would also work for the LJ80? If so I’ll pull the battery out of my blue Samurai (Chookie) and give it a spin. Is this...

Welcome! With memories like that, I would try and rebuild your current one. Of course if it is at all able to be. Have any pics you could post? Lots of good guys here willing to help.

Like you, I first learned how to drive in an LJ 81 pickup.

Re: Whipsaw 2010

I still can't believe that you all got so beat up this trip. I feel bad as I did advise it was do-able with a stock vehicle. I guess I over estimated the abuilities of a stock LJ. I wish I could have been there, as I think some advise from someone who knew the trail well would have helped minimize ...

I'll check, I know I have a couple. :worship: BTW, did you check the mounts on that LJ80V? Let me know if you need them - we can "swap". Was looking through this thread again. Two transfer case mounts were ripped, thanks to Falcon hill I assume. I had a few spares so we fixed it a while b...
