Re: Not a Suzuki meet

I really need to get down there for one of these; I've been wanting to go for years but am always booked for that weekend.

Couple of videos from the trip. These got posted to FB, but I just realized I never linked them here. They are no longer available from my local Suzuki dealer, but I was able to order one from Japan last year for my mom's LJ80.

Re: LJ20 transfer case mounts (cross-compatibility w/LJ50 or LJ80?)

The LJ50/80 transfer case mounts will not work; the base is longer than the LJ20 mount.

I'm not sure if a Samurai boot will fit for that lower boot. I can still order the boot new though. It runs about $15.

Re: LJ Interior Courtesy Light

Good info Tom, thanks! I bet that is a lot brighter than the stock light too!

For those who want all original, the stock interior light assy. is still available (or at least it was last year.)

From your description it sounds like you have the same setup, except the pink wire may be a different color. Can you post pics of your set up?

Re: Moab - April 2018

Great story and a beautiful picture! Looks like a good area for an LJ get together... Watch out for mountain lions - we had a fatal attack here a couple of weeks ago. First one in nearly 100 years, but the cougar attacked two guys on mountain bikes, they fought him off, and after they were ri...

Who was it that lived in Japan? I called him and talked to him on the phone back then. Russ?
That was Fab (Scott).

Re: Moab - April 2018

Yes we did. Mid 70's to low 80's every day. Saw some thunderheads the day we were in Arches, but the rain was evaporating before it hit the ground. We got a few drops that night but that was all.

Re: Moab - April 2018

We're in Sand Flats, B15 and 16. There is no stock 15" wheel except the Tacoma wheels and the 15x4.5" wheels on the LJ20V. I have a set of 4 16" wheels with tires with me.

Re: Moab - April 2018

I'm heading out this afternoon, should get to Moab sometime tomorrow evening. I might be interested in the single Tacoma wheel; I have two sets of four but am using five of them (including my spare). I think I have a set of stock (16x4.5") wheels I can throw on the trailer in case you make it.

Re: Moab - April 2018

We are going to try and firm up plans for Moab this week. My local club meeting is tonight and we will be talking about it there. I did verify that hotels are still available for the week we are there. Campgrounds too, but everything is pretty expensive. Even "cheap" hotels (i.e. Super 8) ...

Re: Moab - April 2018

Small world indeed. I remember wanting to buy your green LJ10 when it was here in Seattle, but the seller wanted $4,000 which was much more than I had at the time. He ended up selling itto a guy in Idaho, who in turn sold it to you, so you are the third owner of that rig I know. And good call on Twi...

Re: Moab - April 2018

Sounds like a fun trip! Moab in April is great albeit very busy. Maybe someone needs to make a spur trip up to SLC to pick up a spare LJ10!?!  Why don't you bring it down to Moab? The LJ's always generate a lot of interest on the trails and around town. If there is a decent one for sal...

Re: Moab - April 2018

Great! I'll have a 24' motorhome, towing a 14' aluminum trailer. We'll get there either Saturday or Sunday night. I can go at least 3-4 days in the motorhome without filling/dumping tanks. We may stay at a campground in town the first few days and then dry camp somewhere, depending on where others w...

Hello Steve, So far those dates are still good for me. I probably can't stay the entire time but I am hoping to make it to at least a few days. If it works out I will bring my stock LJ10 so I am probably not going to want to do anything too crazy. I would just like to get it out and also have you l...

Moab - April 2018

Merged this to a new 2018 thread so it is less confusing. Is anyone else interested in going on this trip? We are working on logistics (camping, etc.) this week. Trail runs will depend on what vehicles are with us. If it is just my buddy and me I might bring the LWB, but if there are other LJ's I'll...

No, you do not need to swap the coil. In fact, I expect the coils are the same part number for both models.

Re: Moab - April 2017

I just brought this up at my local club meeting last Tuesday. At this point, I am still planning to go. I'm undecided on what to bring, but right now I am leaning towards my RHD LJ10, since it is lighter(easier to tow behind the motorhome) and it has better approach and departure angles than my LWB ...

Re: Lj80 motor in a Lj20?

It would be tight, but I think it would fit. The LJ80 hood is slightly higher than an LJ20 hood, but you could probably mount the engine lower, and use a 1-2" body lift if needed to be sure it clears everything underneath (i.e. axles).
