The later date works best for me at the moment, but I still have a lot of details to work out yet in order to go.

John, are you planning on driving Suzy that far or are you going to trailer it this time?

Yeah John, we usualy 4x4 in the snow to get to natural hotsprings in the winter. However, the Lj is only insured until early November, so no snow wheeling for me this year. I'm still trying to plan a trip to the OHV park in Alberta this fall. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures and let everyone kn...

Well I think it is a great place as I can get there in a few hours. My buddy Colin and I might go check it out sometime this summer/fall. Maybe in September as I seem to be booked til then.
Steve I think your 81 would be very comfortable back home in Canada.

If you want to go anywhere close to Banff/Jasper then your best bet would be an area called Waiparous. It is an OHV area just west of Calgary. I have not been there myself but have seen lots of pictures (and magazine articles) about it. I have wanted to go for a number of years now and this might fi...

Well the mystery part in the landcruiser must have been a part from the turbo housing. It's all back together and running fine now.

Hope that manifold works for you steve, it also has some hair line cracks in it, but at least it's in one piece!

Turns out the fuel was fine, however, something came lose from some where and entered the turbo and did some damage. No one is sure of where it came from yet, so it's kinda weird.

Well the turbo is supposed to be back this Friday. I think it cost him around $575 to get it rebuilt and about another $500 in labour and other parts he needs as a result. Should be running again by Monday night.
But yeah, it's a sucky thing to happen.

Didn't break anything at the meet. However, Nick's Landcruiser (tow vehicle) decided it didn't like it's turbo anymore on the way home.

Well said John and I agree, I had a great time and look forward to more LJ fun in the future!

I'll have some pictures to post shortly and hopefully a link to a short video of some of the action.

Cheers!

Hey what about these harder trails that might cause body damage? I'm all about those! A little mud wouldn't bother me none either. So long as I'll need to use four wheel drive I'll be happy! :D
My buddy is towing it down with his 81 that he might be interested in 4x4ing a little bit too.

I've changed my mind about driving my LJ80 down, so it's getting a trailer ride instead. I wasn't really liking the idea of 7hrs of wind and sun/rain. Not much fun being wind burnt and baked/soaked when you arrive some where. On a good note, the new ring and pinions and rear locker are going in this...

Haha, I know that I don't "need" a locker, but I already bought one a year ago and was waiting until I got the ring and pinion gears to put it all in at the same time. For the wheeling I do in my area I need a locker. However, I've wheeled these things stock a lot too and I'm still amazed ...

Free camping, sounds good to me! My brother and I have checked our schedules and so far it looks like we can make it for the meet. We only have six important things to fix on our rig before then too! It doesn't look like I'll be bringing the LJ80V, it'd just be too much work to get them both ready f...

Z links

I've seen a couple z links and all of them have bent at some point. Pretty much if you put a bend in a steering link, it's going to be a weak link. And it's true, welding on support brackets only moves the problem. The heat stress from welding on the steering link is never a good thing either. In Ca...

Yeah i've had the same problem with my front drums. Nut came loose and the splines followed in it's place. Couldn't find a used drum in good shape either so i bought a new one for $150. Note to self after that: make sure that dang nut is really tight!
