Re: Getting ready for the meet...

Sounds good. Rapid City is a decent sized town, so we plan to stock up on food on the way to the campgrounds in the a.m. Looking forward to meeting everyone. My Dad is getting excited to take his Willy's out on a few trails. It is basically a cabin cruiser, so i don't think he ever expected to take ...

Re: Getting ready for the meet...

Does anyone know what are typicall eating arrangements? My Dad and I are going to stay in a hotel, but plan on being with the group during the day. Do people grill at camp, so we should bring some meat to throw on, if someone will let us? What about lunch on the trails, pack a cooler? I'm not known ...

Re: Which should I take to the meet?

I'm hoping to get some up close viewing of some stockers, so I can take pics for an upcoming resto, but I would like to see Mouser. Mouser is my inspiration for my current LJ project, and I'd like to see how you handled some of the details on mouser up close.

Re: Getting ready for the meet...

In the spirit of the thread "Getting Ready for the meet", I picked up a 4.10 geared front, 4.10 geared rear w/locker, and rear disc brakes for my cherokee. I told the wife I needed them for the meet. I've been thinking about doing it for a couple years anyhow. It'll be more of an LJ like e...

Re: Getting ready for the meet...

I just spoke with my Dad and he suggested taking his '46 Willy's CJ2A instead of my cherokee. It is slightly highway challenged, but I imagine the other LJs are as well. It is stock running gear, and dressed up to look like an army jeep. We'll be arriving late Monday night and staying for the Tuesda...

Re: Getting ready for the meet...

I have mine in a million pieces!!! My frame off restoration is dragging out a little longer than I hoped. Say a prayer for me please!!! lol Are there even a million peices on an LJ? Just kidding, mine has no hope of moving under it's own power for the meet. I grew up in Fargo-Moorhead, and both my ...

Re: Who is going to the 2010 meet?

Thanks, that sounds good.

I'm still expecting to drive my mildly modified cherokee and follow along on the trails, but I'm trying to convince my Dad to trailer his '46 CJ2A and do the trails with that instead. I figured it would fit in better with the LJs.

Re: Who is going to the 2010 meet?

Hey Steve, Having not been to an organized meet of this type before, what does the itinerary typically look like. I realize the trail maps are not set in stone. Are you going to have morning and afternoon rides with lunch breaks back at the campgrounds? When would the morning rides typically leave? ...

Re: 2010 Meet Location

I've been through most highways in eastern Wyoming and it is nice. There really aren't particular destination places unless you make it all the way west to Yellowston/Tetons. Eastern Wyoming is much like Eastern colorado. Lots of ranches, and cowboys. Bighorn National Forest by the Sheridan/Buffalo ...

Re: Who is going to the 2010 meet?

I'm using this meet as a goal to get mine done. We have a 6 month old, a 2 year old and both the wife and I work, so time is lacking. Worst case scenario, it is not done, but I'd like to make the drive to check out the group. It is about 10 hrs from where I live, could probably convince my Dad and s...

Re: 2010 Meet Location

I've never done much trail riding, but I have camped and Mt. Biked in SD. Spearfish, SD is my favorite South Dakota city, but all of the state from the Badlands west to the Wyoming border is pretty nice. I was googling and found this trail that looks LJ suitable: http://www.4x4now.com/96dcc.htm"...

Re: Reports, pictures from the meet!

It is Friday night and the kids are going to bed. I'm sitting in the driver's seat of the LJ, and thinkingt I'm way to big of a guy to be driving this thing (6'2" approx 230). Then, I think of these pics and almost everyone that was at the meet is at least as big as me, if I'm judging it right....
