Re: Moab - April 18-23, 2021

Dang, that'd be fun!

Pretty tough getting out of Canada for holidays right now, never mind the fact my LJ doesn't have front fenders, a hood, or a grill at the moment. Maybe next time...

Yeah, I was riding with you when you hit that bump, it was a big bounce alright!
Fixing the seats is a good thing.

Re: Whipsaw, Canada 2017

Despite not being able to bring my own LJ I had a great time riding in most of the rigs as a passenger! I wasn't quite brave enough to ride with Brian, he doesn't shy away from any obstacle and lives a little on the edge. Like Aaron mentioned, it was pretty awesome seeing seven different Suzu...

Re: Whipsaw, Canada 2017

Looks like Glen and I will be taking turns riding with other people. He doesn't have a way of getting his LJ there and mine isn't running good enough.

Re: Whipsaw, Canada 2017

This has been a bit tough getting ready for. I rebuilt my F10a but it was smoking like crazy after and passing quite a bit of raw oil into the exhaust. Figured I put my second ring in upside down so I pulled the engine back out today and double checked the rings. Everything seems good and specs out ...

Re: Whipsaw, Canada 2017

Just an FYI for people camping at the Rivers Edge campground, they don't take reservations for tenting. They typically have had lots of room when I've been there in the past so for those of us tenting, it shouldn't be a problem getting a spot. On a different note, I've almost got my rebuilt f10a rea...

Re: Whipsaw, Canada 2017

Yes, that's the one Steve. It's behind a Kal tire as I recall. Last time I went we asked about reservations but they didn't seem to care about that if you were tenting. If you have an RV of some sort then a reservation may be a good idea. Their washrooms and showers weren't that great, but after a d...

Re: Whipsaw, Canada 2017

I have to put my engine back together yet, but I'm still planning on going. I usually camp at the riverside campground (or I think that's what it's called).
I'll try and get some more info out soon.

Re: Whipsaw, Canada 2017

Welcome Dave! I'd prefer to keep this to Suzuki rigs, but I understand that not everyone is fortunate enough to own one and must bring a less desirable rig, haha. So all are welcome. I only ask that it remains family friendly and people refrain from drinking alcohol on the trail. There's plenty of t...

Re: Whipsaw, Canada 2017

I will update anything as I find it out. I was thinking about the whole problem of not knowing if the snow will be out in time or not and people needing a for sure date for holidays, etc. If people are interested, I could plan a "back-up" trip around the Cranbrook area where I live. There ...

Re: Whipsaw, Canada 2017

The campsite is beside a river just off the main highway there. They have hookups available but I have always just tented. The actual washrooms and showers are not very nice but after a day on the trail I didn't care. I think they would be able to accommodate a trail group pretty well though. They h...

Re: Whipsaw, Canada 2017

I don't mind at all if others come. I will double check the dates I went through the last two times. I'm pretty sure it was early July both times though. If it is a heavy snow year, dates might indeed have to change. The last time through, my brother took a stock Sidekick Sport and it did fine. Ther...

Whipsaw, Canada 2017

I'm thinking of planning a trip for early July next year. Maybe around July 7-9? Is this something some people might be interested in? I've been through the trail a few more times since the last Suzuki meet. It's been different and fun every time. I have taken to camping in the town of Princeton on ...

Re: Whipsaw 2010

After washing my truck when I got home I found only scuffing of paint, no (new) dents to be had thankfully. I was really impressed with how well all the stock rigs did going through this trail, however, if I do this trail again, which I'm sure I will, I'll bring the modified LJ80 instead. I agree wi...

Re: Whipsaw 2010

Hey everyone, I'm going to be heading to Princeton as soon as I can tomorrow, which means I should be there by around two or three. If I get there early enough and the truck isn't giving me any trouble I'll try and head up the start of the Whipsaw road to look for a good camping spot. I'm going to b...

Re: Whipsaw 2010

I'm not sure what it's like at Whipsaw right now, but in the high country around Kelowna the bugs are really bad right now. Just a note that people should be prepared for that and have bug spray and/or bug jackets.
