Re: Whipsaw, Canada 2017

Posting on behalf of my dad, as he was looking at this, but is not the most tech savvy! He is planning on coming tomorrow although I am busy with the family. All the reports that we are seeing are stating the fire is on highway 5a. It looks to be almost 10k from colemont. It will mean that you will ...

Re: Whipsaw 2010

I still can't believe that you all got so beat up this trip. I feel bad as I did advise it was do-able with a stock vehicle. I guess I over estimated the abuilities of a stock LJ. I wish I could have been there, as I think some advise from someone who knew the trail well would have helped minimize t...

Re: Whipsaw 2010

My dad is likely available for this trip, but is less than interested in typing up a response!! Besides, he probably wouldn't finish typing it up before the trip. It's only natural though that he doesn't like typing as his father was a typing teacher!! Anyways, he is interested in the trip, but is c...

Re: Whipsaw 2010

You'll be fine unlocked. Most of the tough stuff on the trail is optional. There are really only 3 spots where you really have to work to get a stock vehicle through. You will want to have a winch in the crowd as there is one mud pit that is not optional, and it has a sharp bank on the exit that can...

Re: Whipsaw 2010

Hi all Its been a while. Sounds like a fun trip, but unfortunately I will be in India from the 26th of June to sometime late July. Anyways, here is the whipsaw map I made last year. Enjoy!! http://maps.google.ca/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=116434769530259110315.000471084e0dc6092931d...

Re: Kelowna

I got the mag on my dads b-day, so I called my mom and told her to check the mail. She looked, but it's still not in there two days later. I think it is the first time I have ever seen an lj in any magazine! The picture of my truck is flattering fortunatly, and only shows the side I painted over some ...

Re: Kelowna

Well, if it makes you feel any better it was raining here (Vancouver) earlier today. And also, to get a whole day of wheeling on one trail is not as common as that trail may have made it seem. I was just disappointed I didn't have time to properly get to know you, as it seems I was either changing m...

Re: Kelowna

Yeah, it was a pretty great time. I was bummed to have to leave early, but when I rolled into Vancouver at 11:00, I realized I probably had a pretty full day. Did you guys actually make it to the top of the hill? Anyways, I don't have many pictures as we forgot our camera, but Kendra (My wife) took ...

Re: Kelowna

It would be nice if we could firm up a meeting place and a time. I would say that 10:00 would give us a reasonable amount of time for wheeling before we do dinner and set up camp, but I'm easy. Place is something that Al would know better than the rest of us I'm sure. Also, are we doing a big group m...

Re: Kelowna

I'm just glad Rick's will be there. I don't know about woodchopper's, but I know if you took a look at either Tyrel's or mine you might get a wrong impression on 81's. Not saying mine is radical, but it's definitely not stock!

I'm in for me, my wife, my dad, and my mom. The girls are maybes, but either we will pick up passengers, or cover the extra for food. I'll be in my lj81 and my dad will be in something :|.

Re: Kelowna

Rick, make sure that Al understands that some of our rigs will be trailered and not all road worthy. My dad will either be in Suzy, our hardtop, or Rocky, his lj rock buggy; neither of which are road legal. Other than that this is sweet as I now get to go wheeling both weekends!! Sounds like my budd...

Re: Kelowna

I'll be nice... for now! Ticks are more of a spring thing. We never really check for them once July hits. It is later in the season, so bugs should be less of a concern, although there will be the rogue mosquitoes and wasps. Probably best to bring some bug spray, and be able to cover your arms and l...

Re: Kelowna

We'll have to think about it then. Unless you can be in princeton by about 7:00am I don't know if we will have time to do the whole trail. Unless maybe everybody is good with staying until the Monday. For me I only work Tuesday through Friday so it's nice and easy, but it might not work for others t...

Re: Kelowna

Probably about half of the length. I added points on the map where the trail goes to more backroads than forest service roads. Last time we did it (we went opposite to what I think we should do this time) we left at 8:00 from Princeton and made it to lodestone lake around 4:00-5:00. However, this ti...

Re: Kelowna

Ok, I did a quick search and it was possible to import the Google earth map into google maps. So if you don't want to download earth and all that you can just go to the below url and see the map. You will have to zoom out before you see the trail.

Ok I couldn't figure out how to do a good map so I traced the whipsaw trail in Google earth. Sorry if you do not have it, but I couldn't figure out how to make it work with Google maps. Anyways, just click on the link below, download the file and then open it with google earth. My sister is in Engla...

Re: Kelowna

I don't have a lot of info on it myself. I have been on the trail 3 times. The first was after a hard day on a trail that goes from Keremeos (45 minutes east and my old hometown) to Manning park. My dad got a nail through his tire as we were checking out an old mine, and we turned back before the na...

Re: Kelowna

Hi all, I had some friends (toyota people) contact me about doing the whipsaw trail just outside of Princeton BC on Sept 12-13. We had originally been planning the wheeling trip for later in the fall, but they are camp directors, and get booked up pretty easy. Anyways, I am still keen on doing our m...

Re: Kelowna

Are we planning on doing some trails? Just so long as wherever we go we only need to be trailer legal, I'm sure that my dad will bring along his LJ based rock buggy.

Anyways, I have officially penciled in the 12-13 as LJ meet so we should finalize some plans as to when and where we are going.
